Workshop Description
Motivational interviewing is a method for talking to clients about healthy lifestyle changes. It focuses on a client's intrinsic motivation for change. In this workshop you will learn a conversational style that utilizes four basic communication skills: open ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening and summarizing. These skills will help you to assess your client's readiness to change, knowledge of why they should make a change, and ways to address barriers that make change difficult.
